Autumn Evening Forest Bathing in the Gardens
Monday September 14 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm CDT
Partnership with Missouri Botanical Gardens

Experience the Missouri Botanical Garden after hours as the seasons begin to shift. Summer’s lushness still fills the landscape, while golden evening light, ripening seed heads, and the first touches of seasonal color hint at the arrival of autumn. This Forest Bathing + Nature Therapy Walk offers an opportunity to slow down and savor this fleeting moment between seasons through the senses.
Inspired by Shinrin-Yoku, this gentle experience encourages participants to release stress, awaken the senses, and reconnect with nature’s rhythms.
Guided by Certified Forest and Nature Therapy Guide Jess Thenhaus of Urban Forest Therapy, you’ll move slowly through the garden and take in the gentle scents, textures, and sounds of the season. Through sensory-based invitations, the evening becomes a space to unwind, reconnect with yourself, and attune to the renewing energy of the season.
What to Expect:
- A slow, mindful walk through the Garden after hours.
- Time to unwind, slow down, and step away from the pace of daily life.
- Space for reflection, rest, and connection with nature at the turning of the season.
This is a leisurely walk, not a strenuous hike, designed for deep relaxation and connection. Guided by Jess, you’ll engage with nature through mindful, sensory invitations. Each session includes time for quiet reflection, optional sharing, and simple practices you can bring into your daily life to nurture your connection with the natural world.
Each walk at the Missouri Botanical Gardens is a distinctive encounter, welcoming individuals of all fitness levels.
