Jess Thenhaus, Certified Forest and Nature Therapy Guide

Jess Thenhaus is a Certified Forest and Nature Therapy Guide, Nationally Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and the founder of Urban Forest Therapy. Holding a wealth of certifications and informed by a decade-long journey of education, training and practice, Jess stands at the forefront of integrating nature-based wellness with somatic and trauma-informed care.

Jess is on a mission to help busy people in urban (and suburban) environments reduce stress and recover peace in the present moments by cultivating a mindful connection with nature in their own backyard and local green spaces.

Jess offers a range of nature-based wellness experiences including Forest Bathing, Nature Therapy Walks and Workshops, Corporate Wellness Packages, In-Nature Team Building Events, and personalized Health and Wellness Coaching. Her practice blends physical, emotional, and creative well-being, deeply rooted in nature’s wisdom.

Following her own health challenges and the constraints of traditional medicine, Jess pursued holistic health at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, later achieving NBHWC Board Certification in Health and Wellness Coaching.ย

Her training with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy is complemented by her work in Somatic Mindfulness Inquiry and Somatic Embodiment & Regulation Strategies, providing comprehensive trauma-informed healing and nervous system regulation approaches.

Her decision to pursue this path was significantly influenced by the global pandemic, recognizing the profound need for nature connection in addressing the widespread emotional and physical upheaval experienced during that period.

Jess now guides others to deeper self-connection and healing through nature, somatic, and holistic health principles, facilitating a journey that enhances present-moment awareness and fosters a sense of safety, belonging, and overall well-being.
